Following his graduation from the School of Medicine of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Vassilis Perrakis received his specialty training in University Hospitals in Greece and Great Britain. During his postgraduate education, he carried out a wide range of high-risk obstetric procedures and gained considerable experience both in pregnancy monitoring and in handling natural births, assisted births, and caesarean sections. In the field of gynaecology, he was trained in issues of prevention and treatment and specialized in the following Departments: Ultrasound, Hysteroscopy, Laparoscopy and Colposcopy.
After many years of professional employment, he acquired great skill in performing small, moderate and more serious gynaecological surgeries, as well as extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of gynaecological cases concerning gynaecology, in general and, more specifically, endocrinology (polycystic ovaries, menopause), urogynaecology and oncology.
His professional experience includes his employment in the National Health System of Great Britain and his decade-long employment as Curator for the Operating Theatre and Delivery Rooms of Iaso Maternity Hospital. Currently, as a freelance physician with a modern private practice in the centre of Athens, he collaborates with all private Clinics and Maternity Hospitals.
He has attended and still attends regularly postgraduate meetings and conferences concerning perinatal problems and high-risk pregnancies. Moreover, he is informed of recent developments in medicine, mainly of Obstetrics – Gynaecology and the women who visit him at his private practice receive answers to their questions with a serious, yet human approach.
He is fluent in English.
